PornHub’s 10th Year in Review report has just been released, offering intriguing insights into global porn-watching trends. 2023 is the 10th anniversary of Pornhub’s Year in Review Insights! Over the last decade we have brought you trends, terms, searches, and a recap of all the key events of those years that helped to shape the world’s porn viewing habits. This year, our statisticians are back with more data and commentary to touch on this year’s biggest trends.
Global Search Trends and Growing Categories
The 2023 report highlights the rising popularity of specific genres and preferences among different demographics. The report reveals that “mature” and “MILF” categories continue to dominate global preferences. In 2023, the MILF category gained +1 spot to become the 5th most viewed category worldwide and the Mature category gained +1 to become the 7th most viewed worldwide, growing in popularity by +69%. For searches, “mature” grew +77%, led by the terms “mature cougar,” “mature anal” and “mature amateur.” In the United Kingdom, “mature british” was a top trending search, growing by +751%.
In 2023, size was also on people’s minds. The category Big Tits grew by +31% worldwide. For searches, the terms “big,” “bigger” and “biggest” collectively grew by +177% worldwide. “Big boobs” saw an increase of +78%, “busty” nearly doubled by +94%, and “big natural tits” were up +141% in 2023.
Shifting Demographics and LGBTQ+ Interests
One of the more surprising findings is the shift in tastes among older viewers. Boomers, those aged 55 and above, are increasingly exploring transgender porn, showing a 58% higher interest compared to younger viewers. Within the LGBTQ+ community, specific terms have seen significant popularity on PornHubGay. “Twink” remains the most searched term, closely followed by “anime.” The term “curious straight friends” has also seen a notable rise, jumping 27 points since last year. Another trend is the high ranking of “furry” content, reflecting its substantial overlap with the LGBTQ+ community.
The Intersection of Technology and Adult Content
This year, technology really infiltrated people’s porn interests. One of 2023’s top trending searches was “android,” growing by +1689%. The term “android” is often combined with video game searches, as well as “android cosplay” and “android roleplay.” Searches for “robot” grew by +304%, with terms like “sex robot,” “AI robot,” “3D robot,” and “anime robot” being the most popular. The term “NPC” (Non-Playable Character) grew by +1541% in 2023. The most popular NPC searches being “NPC sex,” “game NPC,” and “hentai NPC.”

In a more nuanced breakdown, the report looks at popular search terms by U.S. state, uncovering some unique preferences. “Goth,” “cartoon porn,” and “Mormon” emerged as top searches in various states. For instance, “Mormon” is highly searched in Utah, known for its significant Mormon population, while “Vegas” is a trending term in Nevada. In New Zealand, Lesbian, Milf, and Maori all featured strongly in stats – Kiwis were also 797% more likely to search for “swimsuit”. When breaking stats down into regions, it showed a significant increase in searches for queer content, especially in Canterbury – which had an 80% increase in “gay – muscle”.
