The Development and Integration of Mobile and Remote Software Systems

While still in college, the journey into software began with a project called YippieMail, which was an email aggregator. Simply put, YippieMail could display all your webmail accounts (i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail etc) in the same web interface. Looking back at it, this was the start of a long-term remote experience where subsequent ventures, such as Blotter and Screenly, have been remote-only.

The Infrastructure of Remote Software Teams

In a remote-only culture, the information flow tends to happen in a more organized fashion either over email or in the company chat rooms (or even in GitHub Issues). Ever since, these software-driven ventures have shown that some people excel while working remotely. It is important to look out for this in team members as a manager, as the focus remains on the flow of information and maintaining a remote-only DNA within the company.

Advancements in Immersive Software: VR and Teledildonics

Today, technology has advanced to a point where a sex-toy company and a VR porn outfit are creating a way to enjoy synced-up virtual reality sex. Lovense and VirtualRealPorn hope their collaborative stroke of genius can thrust VR into the spotlight. The trick involves using a Bluetooth dongle, specially coded VR videos, and Lovense's Max and Nora sex toys to make the toys' vibrations and rotations sync with the VR action seen in your headset. This delicate dance between hardware and video certainly promises a deeper level of immersion.

Mobile Application Connectivity and Remote Control

This isn't Lovense's first teledildonics rodeo. You already can control Nora and Max remotely over long distances via a mobile app or Skype, and sync their movements to each other. The goal was to create an experience that felt completely immersive, where any interaction is reflected in the content. The VirtualRealPlayer apps for Android and iOS are still in development, and the company expects the Android app to come first.

System Compatibility and Platform Support

Currently, you’ll need VirtualRealPorn’s VirtualRealPlayer, which is only compatible with Windows computers and the Oculus DK1 and DK2 headsets. However, more device support is in the works. Eventually, they plan for the synced-up system to work with the Oculus Rift consumer version, Android phones, iOS phones, and the Samsung Gear VR.
